Haiti or Bust!!

I had the blessing of going on a women's retreat with my church last weekend and one thing that really stood out to me was a deeper take on the story of Mary and Martha found in Luke 10:38-41. I used to always read that story and think  'Crap, I'm not sitting at the feet of Jesus enough...but I like the serving part, so now what?' And then I push that thought to the back of my brain until the story comes up again.   One of my key takeaways
was "God endows us with a balance of sitting and serving: sitting without serving is powerless, serving without sitting is directionless....ahhh, but serving after sitting produces power and balance."

So for those of you praying for my journey I ask that you pray for me to take the time to find that balance and seek out sitting at His feet and seeking out when God wants me to pray for or listen to my patients.  The working hours will be as long as the patient lines and it will be easy to get sucked into go, go, go mode and see as many people as I can but I will likely need reigned in on many times that this is not what its about.  Each person is an individual with both physical and spiritual needs and I desire to be sensitive to that.  Thank you for joining me in this adventure whether by prayer, financial support, and/or your donation of much-needed supplies!!

Only mild snafoos so far...like the lift on the bus getting stuck and nearly requiring us to drive down the North way kindly clearing any deer from the side of the road. But a little prayer and up it went and now up, up, and away we go!

I may or may not have internet access while there so if I go off the radar I promise I didn't fall off the face of the earth and will be still writing daily and upload whenever I can. :-)
